Student Ministries Pastor

How did you come to Jesus?
My parents are both Christians, and would talk about God when I was very small. My parents introduced me to Him during some incredible bedtime talks. As a result, I received God's gift of salvation at the age of 7 years old. However, I had a very child-like understanding of salvation, and, at age 14, I finally understood what God's grace was all about. I realized that I had not been living for Christ. Since that June day at camp, I have been walking with Christ as my Lord and Savior.

How/Why did you join FBC Bethalto?
I was practically birthed into this church! I came to FBC when I was two years old with my parents. I grew up in the ministries of this church. While in college, God called me to be a pastor; and, during my time of preparation, FBC licensed and ordained me as a minister. During and after college, I worked on other church staffs; however, in Jan. of 2007, FBC called me to be their interim student pastor. By Dec. 2007, they called me to be their full-time associate pastor of student ministries. I have been here ever since.

What excites you the most about FBC Bethalto?
I am excited by the fresh, new start that our church has received through our new facility. I'm also excited about the potential for new ministries as a result of the fresh spirit our church has had in the last year. Finally, as a dad, I am very excited that we have workers to lovingly care for our children and teach them about Jesus.

What should people know about your role at FBC Bethalto?
I am here to equip students (middle school - high school) to engage their peers and world. I am also here to walk beside parents as they raise and coach their students. In addition, I organize and direct the Upward Sports program. I love to have fun with students.

What brings you joy outside of your work?
I'm an avid photographer and love spending my free time shooting anything from portraits to landscapes. I also enjoy spending time with my family, including Sarah Jane, my bride since May 2004, and our daughter Ella. I also enjoy both home improvement projects & hunting.

Education/Experience?
I hold a B.S. in Religious Education with an emphasis in Youth Ministry from Missouri Baptist University. In addition, I have worked for "Fuge" camps and other local church staffs.
