“Worship is acknowledging that someone or something else is greater – worth more – and by consequence, to be obeyed, feared, and adored…Worship is the sign that in giving myself completely to someone or something, I want to be mastered by it” –Harold Best
One of the ways we worship God at FBC is through song. God’s Word tells us that “it is good to sing praises to our God” (Ps 147:1) and that we should “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Col 3:16)
Our goal is to help God’s Word dwell in you richly, so we strive for musical excellence without compromising on lyrical content. If a popular song has a fun, upbeat sound, but lacks depth and truth, then we intentionally choose not to do it. We want the songs that we sing to get stuck in your head and penetrate your heart, so they must be good.
We worship God by remembering the Gospel through preaching, teaching, singing, praying, and celebrating baptism and communion.
